It is nominated as *a* diversion airport but the majority of diversions route to Shannon or Dublin.
I think I can list the number of diversions into Belfast International in the past half-decade on one hand; Air Berlin A330, Air France A340, United 777. Possibly also a KC-135 last year.
Shannon had more than 60 last year alone ( not counting short-haul weather diversions ) of which seven were Maydays and two Pans.
