SWA has the most productive 737 pilots in the world. They are well paid with a generous profit sharing plan and have ample opportunities for extra work / pay and trip dropping for less pay. Their standard pattern is 3 days on, 4 days off, although variations do exist. I think most CX pilots would think they died and went to heaven if they could live a week in the life of a SWA pilot. Yes, they fly lots of sectors, but no red-eyes that I know of. Yes, early starts or late finishes, but they generally keep pilots on one or the other. Overall, a very good, not great, job with a company that values its employees. I’d trade my seniority at CX for the same seniority (start date) at SWA in 2 seconds. Maybe a bit less money, but a much better lifestyle, multiple basing options, and an enjoyable cockpit culture.
