Thats the important part, in this case you could liken the LLZ (or any other approach aid) to an outbound radial. A vector to intercept allows you to fly that heading and subsequently intercept and track via that aid - with no change to your vertical clearance.
In this case the controllers should be proactive and give you an ILS/LLZ clearance without you asking, though it is possible that they’re holding off on clearance for separation.
