Well it does make sense that a Swire should be at the helm when the fuel hedges come off this year and the airline starts making big money. And as the original hedges seem to have had his fingerprints all over them it is only fair that he should ride them out? (irony alert...)
It also seems to make corporate sense that if the airline is to be transferred out of Swire's control then it should be a Swire to do it. Has a nice tidiness to the transaction.
