For the OP yes there are quite a few situations where the LAPL guidelines are more rigorous than the DVLA Group 1 driving licence requirement.
Especially now as further guidance on LAPL certification for various conditions is issued by the CAA. An OSL certification may be possible but is not the same as the passenger carrying ability conferred by the PMD.

No chance in the date being extended according to the CAA GA unit, but the LAA magazine reports that a derogation is being sought for PMD on EASA aircraft post April 8.
