For some years after I left, I had a recurring dream that I had been called back! In them I was usually starting as a raw recruit.
One of the guys I worked with came out simply to get out of the Nimrod flap bay as he was stuck in it for years and it was a frozen position, he left as a JT and 6 months later decided he wished to join up again and was told he wouldn't be posted back to the same place... So they first sent him to Swinditz for reissue of kit, guardroom treated him as AC with usual bull**** until he pointed out he was a higher rank than the snotty SAC at the hatch, they then sent him to Halton to do the trade test, this guy had done flap repairs for over six years and they gave him two weeks to make the picture frame (trade test, ally picture frame) he knocked it out in a day or so lol.
