I joined EK with 216 hours on anything bigger than a King Air.
I upgraded less than four years later.
My first experience of the Kai Tak checkerboard was my second flight after upgrade.
I don’t know where you got your 216 hours on a King Air from. The Min. Requirement was 6000 hours for an F/O position in 1998.
