The Stansted Tristar
She has had a varied career here as our training aircraft; towing, pushback, aircraft recovery, emergency services exercises and de-icer training. When parts and tyres were no longer available she fell into disrepair.
The decision was taken in 1996 to remove her from Stansted. It has been a lengthy process and the first works commenced two weeks ago. Her wings were removed on Tuesday and from there the excavator munched its way through her fuselage until this afternoon, Friday 26 January she was no more.
