Have any 320/321 rated people invited for interview been able to book a slot? Having received the email asking me to arrange a time on line over a month ago no slots have been made available. Can anyone shed any light on when (if) slots will be available?

Rumour tells me that there have been more than 1100 applications for less than 10 required seats on the 744.

Sounds about right! They will never struggle to recruit, good companies don't!

they are only taking 8 on the 747 and unless you know someone well in the company who can recommend you, I would forget it.

Sounds a bit harsh. I was in the Airbus pool for a long time (320 rated) even though they could have justifiably closed it. They offered me a course two years after my interview, without asking me to come back for another assessment. I didn't know anyone "on the inside".

I don't doubt it, but with over 1000 applicants and 8 positions its one of the easiest ways to cut the wheat from the chaff. It is harsh indeed.

Of course you can still get in without knowing anyone but a good recommendation helps enormously otherwise you have to impress the hell of out them at interview, which sounds like you did!

It's no bad thing to have a recommendation from someone in the company but it isn't like the old days. I imagine it's HR driven and they will select applicants using their criteria. I'm afraid I don't know what that is and if I did I certainly wouldn't post it here.

Maybe flyboy is just trying to dissuade people from applying. Whatever, the reason I'd ignore his post.

why on earth would I want to do that BBK? A ridiculous suggestion.

I'm not trying to put anyone off and apologise if thats yours or anyone else interpretation, it's probably the last airline out there that truly is a fantastic place to work. I'm only passing on what I've been told from those in the company.

If they are incorrect then fair enough.

If they only need around 8 747 people, why did they bother opening up the floodgates to NTR applicants?

Worse than a 1:125 chance to get a job earning £4k a month (if that) out of London, with over a decade to command. Boy this industry is rubber-ducked!!!!!

Well who's out there with a 74 rating? Apart from BA (who would come to V/S from there?) I would imagine there aren't many 74 drivers actually out there that V/S are looking for.

I guess by spreading the net wider they get all the types of applicants they are looking for, which includes the longhual drivers from the dessert looking to come home.

I've still not heard anything. A friend of mine (BA 74 FO) did get the nod last week from VS.

Quite surprised to see BA guys heading over to V/S. just shows how sort after the company is.

I would imagine that rules out the rest of the 1000+ people that applied.
