your airline/training provider will put you in front of a computer and you will click your way thru a CBT (computer based training). absolutely no pre-studies required.
(if the word "torrent" means anything to you you might get a little headstart)

BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol used to distribute large amounts of data. BitTorrent is one of the most common protocols for transferring large files (Maybe even B737NG CBTs...), and by some estimates it accounts for about 35% of all traffic on the entire Internet.
Enlightenment can be found with a quick search of "bit torrent"...

I personally didn't study anything beforehand as:

a) You don't need to
b) You'll be so sick of the CBT afterwards you'll thank yourself for not wasting your own time leading up to it!

Sorry lads but can you give me an Idea of how difficult a type rating is
Im getting mixed signals that its difficult and then not so ...
Just dont want to get myself into a bad position befoerhand by not preparing ..
Also how about scan wise and stuff if you havent flown in a while do they give you the time to catch back up ...

Rgds

I did my A320 TR a few month ago. I asked the company if I could get the CBT before hand to study and that turned out to be a very good decision. I had 2 weeks before the 100 question system test. This may sound like enough, but we also had to prepare for MFTD sessions, which ment studying the SOP's as well as knowing your way around the FMGS(FMS in boeings). If you ONLY use the CBT you will NOT know enough for the systems test! You will need to read the FCOM atleast once.

Thats my advice......take care and enjoy.......full flight sim is the most fun
