Bought or Bust?

I assumed that bought as in BA bought BMI, but the name went, and Bust as in Laker

As far as I recall, BA bought BMI because of their routes, rather than their business model/profits. The airline (IMO) went from being a fantastic alternative to the all encompassing BA to a shadow of it's former self over the last 10-15years of it's existence. All the changes in exteriors and interiors for no real benefit and tightening of the product seemed to alienate a lot of the regulars. I'd always thought that if they were sold, it would have been to Lufthansa who were eyeing up slots and routes ex-LHR. As an aside, I still have loads of miles/points from BMI that never got redeemed due to the implementation of air taxes making the 'free' flights the same price as had I bought the flight normally…. :-(
