Commercial Aviation Magazine Recommendations?

I'm not quite sure where best to put this, so I hope it's OK here.

I'm an aviation English teacher and I mostly work with commercial (cargo & passenger) pilots. I would like to subscribe to a couple of aviation magazines that have articles that would interest commercial pilots. I'm really looking for articles that we can discuss, rather than technical reports on new aircraft, etc.

I already get a couple of general aviation mags (Flyer and Flying) and they are OK-ish, but usually not really relevant to commercial pilots.

As I can't just go and browse in a store. I was hoping there might be some experts here who could recommend aviation magazines that they find interesting.

Thanks!

Airliner world or a Flight are probably the main ones.

Flight International and Aviation Week both carry occasional flight tests. Given that there aren't many new commerical planes thyey aren't that frequent but they also carry flight tests of smaller types as well (but still not frequently).

Air Transport World and Airline Business are both aimed at the commercial issues but sometimes provide background to certain decisions.

I'm not sure I can name any non-english language magazines but I see no reason why they won't exist. In the early 1980s I was surprised for find what appeared to be technically oriented magazine on sale in Beijing in Chinese.

Join AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, aopa.com) and get their AOPA Pilot magazine. Indicate a turbine type rating on the application, and you'll get the turbine edition of the magazine that has an added section for turboprop and jet operators. Lots of good info for all levels of aviation!

Perhaps have a look at www.ch-aviation.com and see if an online subscription to that would be suitable? Looks like $99 for one year.

I know you asked for 'magazines' but they're all pretty crap these days.

Av Week is the only one that really does any investigative reporting any more but it's very slim every week. I used to read it in 20 minutes.

The Airline __ ones are fiercely expensive if you're not in the industry, since you're basically subsidising the thousands of free copies they hand-out to executives

Thanks for all the suggestions.

By Aviation Week, do you mean Aviation Week and Space Technology? (I would never have thought of looking at that!) That one will cost $99/y or $59 for digital only.

Flight International is $230/y (or I can save $25 by going for digital only). I'll pay it if it's really worth it, but that's kind of steep.

Air Transport World and Airline Business look like they might be a bit too business orientated, rather than flight, and the airliner world site has been down, but I will keep checking. I'm going to look into AOPA as well.

Avoid Airliner World. It is for enthusiasts. It is not aimed at people in, or entering, the industry.

It is also littered with mistakes and incorrect information.

I'd barely pay a tenth of that for it.

A shadow of what it was even in the mid-1990s. All the juicy, meaty content has been extracted to populate their Airline Business mag, leaving Flight to regurgitate press releases.

If you definitely want a paper magazine, go for Av Week. Otherwise there are better options online.

Nope, even us enthusiasts avoid it. Have a little more repect for our level of knowledge

If you want articles to debate with aircrew, have a look at CHIRPS

And it's free.
