The reason given in BA's MVT signals is 'aircraft defects'.

It left the LHR gate at 1421 and only took off at 1512, which seems longer than normal. According to FLIFO ETA LHR 1935.

Landed 1934 on stand 1945.

Do we know what went wrong? Clearly not serious enough to divert - but serious enough to return to LHR.

I would suggest that destination MIA and rerouting to LHR to be a "divert"!

I'd suggest it was an airborne return if there was no diversion to Shannon.

In that case every flight I've ever been on has "diverted"
