Gearbox problem.....oh my....but only after a PR campaign to kill the introduction of the machine before it ever saw service. Just the opposite of the current situation.

Definitely not an Engineer or Metallurgist....but having the shaft completely removed from the Gearbox for an inspection certainly makes sense as far as being able to thoroughly examine the entire...

When the S-76 first came out....it had two fatal accidents due to rotorhead failures. I was at the factory when that happened.

The failure was put down to unforeseen stress on a threaded portion...
