Translation from Google!

When Air Greenland two years ago entered into agreement with the helicopter manufacturer Eurocopter for the supply of two new EC225 helicopters in 2014, it was with the expectation of increasing activity in the oil companies ' exploration and drilling.

This is, however, not yet been realized, on the contrary, several companies postponed or scaled down their activities in Greenland. That is why Air Greenland's Board of Directors today unanimously decided to put the two helicopters for sale.

-We ordered the helicopters already in 2011 because of the long lead time in order to be ready for operation, when oil companies expect would initiate offshore activities. We have always been in close dialogue with these companies and followed the market close, and unfortunately, we must note that it is not possible to employ has proven sufficient helicopters in 2014.

There is also not satisfactory prospects for years thereafter, and when the expected customers is not there, then we take as responsible company, of course, the consequence and adapt to the market before costs such as training and spare parts takes off, explains Chairman Jens Wittrup-Willumsen.
Air Greenland expects to be able to sell the EC225 helicopters-with no loss

Well, maybe the "announcement" will be delayed regarding the EC225? It appears there will be no EC225 at HAI this year.

The aircraft on stand will be EC175 Executive Configuration full mock up, AS350 B3e, EC145 T2, EC135 (Corporate configuration) and AS332 C1e.

I don't think I will bother to visit.

Was this the announcement (I didn't see it mentioned elsewhere):

At Heli-Expo, Airbus Helicopters launched the enhanced EC225e Super Puma family version that features new Turbomeca Makila 2B turboshaft engines, more payload, an additional fuel tank for very long range flights, a new cabin layout for improved passenger comfort and new systems to significantly increase pilots’ situational awareness while reducing workload.

Certification of the EC225e is targeted for late 2015, followed by the start-up of deliveries in mid-2016.

Certification of the redesigned bevel gear vertical shaft for the Airbus Helicopters EC225 is expected towards the end of March 2014 or in early April...Assuming approval from EASA occurs as planned, then retrofit of the component to the global fleet of EC225s and military EC725s should begin in the third quarter

Who Pays?

The AD note indicated the replacement was going to cost $1M+ per aircraft. Is Airbus footing the bill? That would seem appropriate!

The EC225e maintains MTOW to ISA +20 using the Makila 2b

The new redesigned MGB Bevel shaft was shown, some were invited to examine a cut prototype shaft to see the difference.

Additional fuel will go in the current baggage bay and bags will go into a netted "bin" in the cabin.

Top of my wishlist.

Bolloeux!

I don't know where you get your information from ....
From Flightglobal purportedly quoting the head of the Super Puma programme

The additional range has been achieved by replacing a baggage compartment with a 470 litre (370gal) internal fuel tank, says Marie-Agnes Veve, head of the Super Puma programme at Airbus Helicopters
Mind you, how she equates 470 litres to 370 gals (UK or US) is beyond me. Guess she means kilograms. Also, carrying this extra fuel is more likely to give an extra 60 nm or more (assuming a miserly 120 Kts G/S) unless the fuel consumption of the 2B is hugely increased.

P3 Bellower

This fuel is in ADDITION to the fwd sponson tanks for ultra long range. The AB debate is whether or not its retrofit or factory permanent for the 225e LR possible variant.

My information comes from being on the customer development panel for the 225e.

Stop the pain!

Now if they would install "long range crew seats" that would be nice!

I maintain that all helicopter manufacturers CEOs and other executives should be forced to sit at their desks in standard equipment helicopter crew seats - I wonder how long it would be before a more comfortable seat would be designed and installed?

Re the fuel mass

370 is approx 0.79 of 470
so 470 litres = 370Kgs of fuel @ 0.79SG

EASA certifies Airbus Helicopters’ EC225 gear shaft redesign
Airbus Helicopters 22 April 2014
The new design eliminates all three factors that, in combination, had caused two unexpected vertical shaft ruptures. It provides corrosion resistance, compensates for residual stress and eliminates stress hot spots.

Manufacturing of the redesigned gear shaft is underway, allowing worldwide implementation on concerned aircraft in service and in production, starting in the second semester of 2014.

BB,

Article very informative for being written by an apparent sixth grader. Who else would describe the OEM's carelessness in wiring the backup system which resulted in false failure indications mandating ditching as a minor "boo-boo"!

At least I am sure Airbus is picking up the $1M+ per aircraft retrofit cost for the fixing this colossal screw up!
