Probably depends on the type rating training...

Probably depends on the type rating training providers, and whether they have slots available at the moment. That's where the bottle neck seems to be.

Have they started offering PER to new joiners? PER would probably be the best flying when it opens up. 4 brand new NEOs doing mostly international flying to Asia.

They've just updated the minimum requirements to 4000 TT and a minimum of 1500 hours on company aircraft as an FO. For a newly joined FO, it would probably take about 2 and a bit years to get 1500...

I believe it’s 6 months before you can transfer bases. MEL was being offered straight off to new joiners a month ago. Don’t know if that’s still the case. Other bases offered were ADL, OOL and CNS.

Exactly my point above when I said it's short term pain, for long term gain. Don't blame the new joiners for this. Those who have joined Jetstar went through the exact same process, did they not?

Apparently so, judging by the responses in this thread. Why bother? For some, it's their first shiny jet job and let's be real, which pilot doesn't aspire to fly a jet at some point in their career?...

Is that standard across the Qantas group airlines? What about Network, NJS, Sunstate/Eastern? Do they pay their pilots during the duration of their type rating course?

Heard in the past that Jetstar doesn't pay you until you've completed the type rating. Is that still the case now?
