There is nothing new about any of that. All a/c have to confirm to SFAR88 and the CDCCL (Airbus FAL) items during manufacture AND maintenance!
Loose fasteners could occur on a metal skinned airframe...

In short No!
There is a battery test switch primarily aimed at tow crews. Pushing the test s/w gives an indication of battery charge state.
The three lights are: High approx. 60 mins available....

That box is the PR bit. Having been in Seattle and been party to some of the detail I for one wouldn't have any problem flying on the a/c with just the modified battery. :p

Most of the batteries were removed for low charge state. ie the towing switch left on or extended tows using the lights and brakes.
A full charge of the batteries will give approx 1hr use of power...
