Primary purpose of the role: Coordinate the flight assets and operations of the Service (Parkair) to ensure the safe utilisation of aviation assets in support of field and emergency operations, and all personnel who will be utilising those assets and ensure compliance with all regulations. Pilot the helicopters to transport people and equipment and provide support to specific field operations of the OEH (Water bucketing, aerial incendiary work, aerial shooting and observation). The occupant may also hold various roles in the Unit such as HAAMC, and Chief Pilot in waiting and if suitable ratings held, Senior Ag pilot. An approved Chief Pilot in waiting for OEH is required under the OEH’s Operations manual. The role requires a focus on regulatory compliance and is a critical link between the AOC holder and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) when the Chief pilot is away on leave.
