Middle East Stingy Employers

Just a thought to share with you all ...
How comes that the richest people on earth seem to care more about the salary they have to pay to their pilots than to their qualities ?! Got to know that some very high level organization in the Middle East is cutting on pilots' salary with the Oil Price crisis excuse. We are not talking about dozens of pilots but just a little number of professionals dealing with VVVIP of the area ... I am amazed. Looking at some stage for very professional pilots but not employing them because they want to pay peanuts ... and eventually getting cheap pilots ... or others assuming that just coming from a specific country will grant them to have the best .... is this normal ? I have always assumed that to become rich you need to be clever !!!

Having flown a lot of rich people, not necessarily! The fact that you are in charge of a company does not mean that you actually know what you are doing!

It's always amazed me that people will spend millions of dollars on a helicopter, plus the hangarage, etc and try to cheapskate on the driver. It's ike buying a Leica and putting cheap film through it.

paco, I completely agree with you ... and as a matter of fact, despite in the ME this behaviour has already led to dramatic circumstances, it looks they just don't want to learn ! It's crazy !

It's an ironic twist of fate that the money (or energy) that would do most good is in the hands of the wrong people. <sigh>.

They need somebody to blame. It is never the fault of a local, it is always the expat. Get your employment contract checked carefully by an independent expert - there is often an "original" contract in arabic which says something completely different from yours in english, a massive loophole to avoid paying you what was promised. "Oh, you have misunderstood the contract. Bye bye."

m32k ... and so again the question is why they do not try to hire the most qualified people in the world? Just because they, of course, will be wanting a commensurate salary ? If they are happy this way, so do we ... it's just beyond any logic !!!
