I think you'll find military aircraft don't give 'impromptu airshows' any more since every man and his dog has a phone with a camera/video and senior officers can get quite shirty about perceived 'negative press'.
No doubt the crew were operating completely within their auth but may well still have had a 'chat' in the boss' office since the article appeared.

Well aware of procedures these days as you say it all
Ends up on youtube
Having said that i guess notifying leics police
Prior to low flying excersies in the city my be prudent
These days
Even the national grid IR surveys invoke
Panic calls to force HQ even though it clearly
Says electricity on the side
