....and the number one thing to remember with avgas in the 500 is leave the boost pump on all the time!!
Otherwise youll be explaining the auto to your boss or insurance company.
I think its 25% max by volume.
I once saw an AS350 that had been running straight avags, white exhaust pipe so you can imagine what the NGVs looked like.
Great movie Deadly Encounter, i hear Larry H had a pilots licence at the time.

If you happen to live in Germany and have access to "Kinowelt Television", well then it looks like you are in luck - "Deadly Encounter" will be showing on that TV channel on July 2, 2006 at 12:35 in the afternoon.

This would be a good topic for Chopper2004's new http://www.pprune.org/rotorheads/470...echniques.html thread.
The 'Flying Egg' from this movie and her driver were fairly well known in the early 80's.
The driver was Larry Kirsch flying a 500C Reg: N4EE. It was always any easy number to recall! Regarding the 206 .. you'd probably have to watch the movie very carefully in order to get it.
The storyline, acting and justification for most of the stunts was total sh*te but, some of the flying scenes were watchable and, when it came out, I did see it a couple of times. Now though I wouldn't be able to punish myself in that way!
One of the most notable stunts in the film was Larry flying through two storm drains (undoubetdly a piece of skillful flying). As I said, he became fairly well known Stateside for some years after the film was released.
You can read more about the movie here and here and there are two pages of PPRuNetalk on the matter (from 2005) here.

If you think the acting was bad in "Deadly Encounter", you should watch "Birds of Prey"!
Here is something along a similar vein. It seems the final part of this sequence was inspired by "Birds of Prey".
It's a shame that the CGI boys are making most of the helicopter stunt scenes in films these days. Surely there are some very good pilots out there of a similar calibre to Larry Kirsch and Jim Gavin. Perhaps it is the insurance industry that is preventing these kinds of scene from being shot now.
500 Fan.

Got to love ol' David Janssen (a pilot in real life) using a hand mic in that noisy 500. Hah! And in that 240-Robert clip, it looks like the 47 pilot whacks the tail rotor guard pretty good when he's hovering around in that building. Good thing he didn't do a replay of the Hiller pilot's bonehead move in "Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes."

Thanks 500, those clips do bring back good memories !
The Bank Job chase was real indoor flying, unlike 007's opening scene in For Your Eyes Only which I believe was "staged". I was a bit horrified to see them walking around the B47 with MR blades still turning though - these have a habit of sailing low and knocking the skull off the neck ...

Seen aboard Hughes 500C N4EE in 1981 during the filming of 'Deadly Encounter' - a terrible movie .. but a great man!
I had almost forgoten about Birds of Prey, If I remember correctly David Janssen sings the three little fishie's song, it was a bit hard to get out of your head once you heard it.

Here is another spectacular chase scene involving the nimble 500 from a movie from 1973. This scene is really what "contour following" is all about. There is even a little tree-trimming thrown in for good measure, too. Does anyone recognise the pilot? I'd guess that he is probably too young to be Jim Gavin. Perhaps it might be Larry Kirsch?
Go to 46:45 for the flying sequence.

Loved the opening sequence in Deadly Encounters. I always wanted to start-up in the hangar and fly out..... powers that be won't let me
However, that first departure is my "classic" 120 profile

While looking for photos of the star 500 (still hunting if anyone has them!) I came across a Wiki-style website about people from Santa Barbara, and on it is a page on Glenn Miller who played the "aircraft carrier" truck driver and was killed in the crash of N4EE on 04/17/82. The site (http://islapedia.com/index.php?title=MILLER,_Glenn) has a news report about the crash which makes for interesting reading for any fans of the movie.
