VDP, MAP, MDA, CDFA..relation..

Hello folks! Anyone can explain( with reference possibly), how the visual descent point work, in wich circumstances is applicable or not and wich regulations affect it? Thanks a lot! If you guys can give a specified approach plate as example will be great!

In simple terms, the VDP is the point at which you will reach the MDA if you fly a CDA from the FAF to the TCH at the threshold.

When the VDP was "invented", it was advisory only. It has evolved in the regulations, however, so that now you may not descend below the MDA until reaching the VDP defined DME (at least according to the US FAA).

It seems like nowadays the MDA has been renamed as DA when doing a CDFA ( CDA ).
