embarer ERJ 145 or E190 ??

I am new to the forum. nice to meet everyone here. I need your advice:

I got hired by an airline. I have the option for a type rating of either ERJ 145 or E190. I was told by the pilots that ERJ145 makes more money then 190. but 190 is bigger aircraft. With 145, 1500 hours might put me into a captain, but with 190, I have to have 2600 hours to qualify as a captain. which route should I go?
thanks for your input in advance.

FW,

Nice to have a choice. 145 great machine to cut your teeth on (if you can land it well in a gusty crosswind you can land pretty much anything bigger and more stable you eventually move onto) but given the choice I'd go for the 190.

The 145 is now old hat, and although cheap as chips to run, they won't be around forever. Due to the 'sizeist' mentality of many recruiters you'll find it easier to move on having flown the 190. Also, command isn't the be all end all, and whats another 2 years or so in the grand scheme of things....

If I get this right, you'll be in the LHS a year earlier on the 145, AND it pays more.

A no brainer surely.

I guess a factor is how long you plan to stay with that operator, and how easy it will be to change fleets later on.

The 190 looks like a nice product though.

Im on the 145, and as mentioned earlier, it really depends if you want to move on or stay for a while with this operator.

If you want to move on, the 190 by far. If not then go the 145 and eventually youll get to the 190 anyway?

Which aeroplane? I have not a slightest idea.

However, I know a couple things you should do.

First, give yourself a big pat on the back. Landing a job today is a very big deal! And you get to choose the aeroplane - lucky you!

Now that you have decided that the airline suits you, you might think that you'll be making an informed decision about the fleet but this is actually a harmless delusion. The only aviation constant is that it changes incessantly. The 145 guys get fatter paychecks now but that might change within weeks and stay so for years. Or not. Hours required for captaincy may shift both ways. How about the bases? One type might get better base, but basses move and close too. 145 today looks to small for feasible operation but who knows what the next economic f-up might bring, maybe point-to-point flying with 40 seat jet will be the hot thing. And if you choose to move your business, will your future prospective employer look at 145 as serious jet or will even 190 will not be big enough to give you credit for flying it? Will the pilots with classic experience be more valued than FBW guys at the marketplace or v.v.?

All this stuff is mostly unpredictable in short term and totally unpredictable in long term. If you get on the side of the fence with browner grass, don't berate yourself for it and if you get on the greener one, don't congratulate yourself too much either. Whatever happens, there will be people whose wild ass guesses have turned correct and consequently have very high opinion of their analytical capability. They will either chide you for your bad decision or flatter you for your good one. Recognize them for what they are, don't take them too seriously (but don't show it openly if they're senior to you) and resist the temptation to become one of them.

Whichever bird you choose, without having flown a single hour on either, I'm pretty sure they're fun to fly so enjoy your flights.

And use sunscreen.

As a commercial person my advice to guarantee job security is the E190/E195. It is a low-cost aircraft whereas the E145 isn't. In 10 years time there will be many more of the former type flying around so for me it would be a total no-brainer.

145's are just not sustainable for the future.

190 might not get you in that LHS, nor as much money, but in the long run will be a better choice.

However if you have some time to play up your sleeve, go the 145, grab that LHS and then later move to the 190.

Congrats.

Thumbs up Legacy 600

Hello Folks,

I am planning to get type rated on ERJ's. Heard new legacy have come up in the market.

The reason of doing this rating is that a charter company wants me to self sponsor the type training.

I wanted to know what is the Approximate cost of the rating and from where. I hold an FAA multi license few HUNDRED hours, yet to reach triple ZEROS.

Also, i want to think about my future with embraers. If i want to stick with this embraer family are there enough operators flying these machines.

I have seen a ERJ 145 and it looks so beautifull. Legacy are supposed to be much more gorgeous then these. I have my heart on them. At the same time i am thinking about the future in embraers.

Will someone like to put some suggestions forward.

Flysafe.

ERJ145 DATA

Hi Guys,
Anyone out there flying the ERJ145?
What is L/D in cruise at say 370 at MAUW and M0.76? (Mathematical calcs. show c.14.95).

I'm a retired airline driver by the way and have taken up studying aerodynamics - thought it was about time I found out what kept me up there all those years.

Best regards.
