I love the odd high g shot where youngsters can momentarily see what she will look like in a few years.

Bring back more Besenyei. At least he looks as if he enjoys what he does. I was getting as bored as she was watching that...

DashDriver, not sure have you dealt much with people outside West, but generally Russians don't smile as much as your average European/American folks. Just because her face is focused doesn't mean she's not enjoying it. You simply cant do aerobatics without enjoying it.

She did break out into a vague smile once or twice.

She comes across to me as simply totally immersed in what she's doing - not unlike an elite athlete competing or top musician performing - I've seen the same in some martial artists as well.

I think it's gone through enjoyment and out the other side into something else altogether.

Impressive isn't she, although this might show her abilities off a little better. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKLaJDIoWfI

Clinical. Yep, that's the word. Motion sans Emotion.

As Martin says, being focussed doesn't mean not enjoying.

And after ...

Filmed in Sochi this year she is very a talented pilot. The image she portrays is standard for Russians, they never smile at people until they get to know you, although she did manage a smile and wave to the camera halfway through a manoeuvre

Think its a bit of a mix I came to flying from car racing before a race the nerves kicked in the adrenaline rose and most drivers were dead serious, emotionless.
When the lights changed, everything changed! The nerves went and you extracted all you could. Then on the straights you got the occasional smile
A lot is focus a lot fear until those lights go to green then its mainly focus.

Russians tend to be more serious but underneath that comes the smile and hearts of gold as well as passion of gold too!

The passion is all important It is the powerhouse and I am sure she has plenty

She is indeed very good at what she does. And I think the 'flies in the teeth' grin of someone aerobatting is an inaccurate portrayal. Aeros, especially at that level, requires total concentration. I certainly never grinned while aerobatting as I was concentrating too much. Afterwards, yes, but not during.

A lot of the concentration is of "don't F U the manouvre" type. Aeros is about trying to get it perfect; and of course one never does.

Well, for one, I enjoyed watching her fly from the inside of the cockpit far more than from the outside! A very attractive woman.

Unfortunately, with a voice that can only be from a Harpy!

Keep it clean- what is the blue knob behind the throttle? Throttle friction?

She could do a lot of damage with those finger nails.

I saw it as a sign of mockery, or making fun of something, but then I grew up in Argentina.
