Sandtoft
There is a meeting with the owners of Sandtoft Airfield on Monday 14th Feb to finalise the opening date, but most things are now in place and there is a new telephone number 01427 872034. As we are still on with tying the loose ends we cant guarantee the phone will be answered until opening day, but if staff are working in the building during next week then it will be answered. Look forward to seeing old familiar faces. Regards Ray Price CFI.

Good luck and thank you to all the people working hard behind the scenes to get things up and running again.
It must be pretty tough for some of the employees, particularly in this economic climate.
Wish you all the best.

I popped in today and have seen the effort that has gone into Sandtoft to put it back in working order. It's looking good and everyone is putting in maximum effort. It'll be nice to have a proper club there again.
The website has been updated with an announcement that it will be reopen on Saturday 19th of Feb. Sandtoft Flying Club
Oh, and there's a member area forum which is good for a laff. Bit like pprune, only better!

Sandtoft (EGCF) now open again.
Despite pulling the curtains back at 7 am and finding it snowing, we trundled to work and Sandtoft's doors were finally opened at 9 am today (Sat 19th Feb). No flying due to the weather but a great social day getting new members signed up.The place looks spic and span after redecoration and the club atmosphere is back along with excellent food. For details ring Nicky on 01427 872034. Hope to see you soon. Ray Price CFI.

For those of us who like to cruise above FL050 Sandtoft might as well be on the east coast, the great thing is that you can travel high and clear of all the class A airspace to take advantage of any wind that might be in your favour.
A few years back I was asked to bring a PA28-161 from Glasgow to Booker, the plan was to fuel at Sandtoft if required. On the day the 1H 20Min that it took the B757 to get up north was a clue that a stop was not required.
It was a clear winters day and we climbed to FL95 to take advantage of the strong tail wind, the total flight time was 2H 11Min !

Congratulations Ray,
I'm really delighted to see that Sandtoft is back and running again... I look forward to my next visit there for a nice sarnie and some banter. Well done to all of you for all the hard work put into the club at such hard times.
