Emirates car pickup Mumbai.
I'd like to ask a further a question on this please, subsequent to the original (now closed) thread.
As per the previous thread we have not used this service before and have booked to use the Emirates courtesy car pick up/drop off on our forthcoming return trip to India. I am told that when we arrive at Mumbai Airport from Dubai we are likely to face a sea of local faces as we get to the arrival area - many of whom will one looking to take our bags etc and walk us to a taxi. We obviously don't need this 'hassle'. Can anyone advise what the procedure is at Mumbai airport? Is there a specific location (desk?) for the Emirates courtesy car service? Will it be clearly signposted? Will we get some specific instructions from the cabin crew before we get off the aircraft?
I'm just trying to eliminate any unnecessary stress or local hassle after long indirect flight from London. I appreciate this will be a well worn path by others so some pointers would be much appreciated.

Can't speak for Mumbai but at Bangkok you are greeted with a similar sea of faces at all the arrival gates, most of them waving placards and shouting names so the scope for confusion is great. What I did on my last arrival at BKK was to march up to the information desk in the Arrivals area and ask 'where is Emirate limo pickup?'. The guy knew; problem solved. (in fact the Emirates drivers were all hanging around the gate that the Emirates passengers DIDN'T exit from!)
To answer your specific questions - If there is a specific desk, I doubt if it will be signposted. You will not get any specific instructions from the cabin crew. You are on your own I'm afraid.

"is there some sort of system?"
It's Mumbai - the system is there is no system - hang onto your luggage as everyone will try and "help" you to their particular taxi..............

It’s that that I am trying to avoid, hence my original post! But out of interest, how “safe’ would the local taxis be?

There is a Community Forum link on the home page that will most certainly answer your question.
It's also a great web site for Frequent Travellers , particularly Business Class.
I visit this web site daily .
Sorry, I'm a bit confused - why don't you explain your concerns to Emirates and ask them if / how they can make themselves clear to you when you arrive - even if you are so worried to arrange to meet you directly as you come out of customs - you are paying them for the service? Mumbai is a newish airport and compared to some in South Asia not too bad at all.

Emirates car pick up - etiquette
I started a thread on this late last year and the thread is now, not unreasonably closed. I was asking about the etiquette about tipping the chauffeur driver and I just wanted to complete the thread if I may as it may help others in the future.
We were picked up at home ok and driven to Heathrow, and a couple weeks later made the return journey. Both 70mile sectors were completed with no hitches and in a safe manner. I tipped each driver £10 for their service which seemed reasonable to me, neither driver appeared to be looking for a tip and thanked me for being 'a gentleman'. Both drivers were from Addison Lee.

I also enquired about the Emirates car pick up at Mumbai airport, but we were picked up by the local tour company instead and did not need to use the Emirates service hence no feedback on that. Having said that, when we left the arrivals hall I did not see any obvious Emirates presence or chauffeur personnel. The flight was full and surely some must have been using the service and expecting to be met by someone. Glad we made alternative arrangements in that respect.
