Jetpipe,
The reasons you probably haven't had much in the way of response are:
1 - If you tried a quick search you'll find that this subject has been covered many times before.
2 - There are many instructors on this forum and anything positive said about a school is often seen as self-promotion.
Be a little more specific and you might get what you are after.
Good Luck.

none of the above..... does such a thing exist at Bankstown anymore?????
or should I say one existing to a good standard with good aircraft and good classes......
Such a sad case because i can honestly say thats the places of the past (NAVAIR, CAS) just dont seem to exist there anymore........
I really cant recommend you anywhere that i know of. GFS have a good reputation out of Melbourne and employment history but I know nothing of their Bankstown operation...
Good luck with it anyway

See my reply to "question for Instructors". That applies to any training. There are only 3 airports around Sydney. Go and visit them all. Talk to them. Ask questions. Find out who provides what you want to buy and are you comfortable with the airport, aeroplane, operator and instructor. Be wary of anonymous people's responses. They might not be what they seem. Even if you personally know them, they might have different temperament or ideas as to what THEY want. Only buy what YOU want. You'd do the same when buying a car.
For the theory why don't you go to Sydney TAFE, located across the road from Central Station? They've had their School of Naviagation running for over 20 years. Historically the cost was always cheap compared to private training institutions & schools.
They focused on learning the syllabus content rather than exam cramming. I did my CPL subjects there 20 years ago & went back in '90 for my ATPL and have always been happy with the place.
