Don’t really care about the noise. It’s been an F15 the last few nights and another over the E coast, similar shapes.

Sound of gas turbines- freedom optional.

I seriously doubt that some of the population of Eastern Ukraine regard the noise of Russian jets as "the sound of freedom."

Probably but curious about the patterns of this and the one over E Coast. Seem to originate from Mildenhall.

DH, they could be using the designator pod to identify / track / target something on the ground.

Had a chuckle at the link that MATELO provided with the GEN about Cobra Warrior. Apparently UK Joint Helicopter Command are operating out of RAF Lemming, which will give everyone a collective chance of throwing themselves off a cliff at the end.

If UKR could get more of their own jets they certainly would. Though the Russkies might hear of them

F15 or F18 ?

as there are Finnish F18s at Waddington as part of Ex Cobra Warrior (along with Indian Mirages, and belgian F16s) , other particuipants in Cobra warrior are flying from their usual bases AIUI

ETA also Saudi Typhoons at Coningsby with several UK Typhoon sqns

3 nights of F15s over us, then this one unidentified by FR24 all seeming to come from mildenhall. Also 4 nights of an F15 doing something similar over the E coast. Although I have no AD experience it doesn’t look like a CAP! Curious/amused

may well be part of Cobra Warrior as there is an implication on the stuff coming from Waddington and Coninsngsby Press offices that other resources are involved in addition to the those working from Waddington and Coningsby which may well include USAFE ones

It has been very busy here these past few weeks.
The noise the other night was most certainly F-15s out of Lakenheath but it still didn't stop local FB pages lighting up with the usual "is that a QRA?" style post.

If it was, I ain't gonna say. ;-)

No matter what others say. It is the sound of freedom here. Always has been, always will be.

AFAIK it's a fair way down the order of merit before requesting USAFE to do a QRA for UK area

Definitely F15, saw a pair heading SE, poss RTB.

I have heard them on the manoeuvring area but these sounded and behaved quite differently.

One night a few months back Typhoons were doing something similar, one between Grantham and Stamford, another Bourne to King's Lynn.

Yesterday we had a C130 dark paint scheme probably 250ft or so.
