Hi guys!
I'd explain my situation here to see if anyone is going through the same? I'm A320 type rated FO who did interview in november last year. was in the holding pool and early mar 2017 got an email from QR for a joining "slot" in August for A320. Note, this is an email and no formal offer letter yet.
As of end april, I am still awaiting the offer letter although the QR team mentioned to bear with them. Anyone had any similar experience given a "start month" but no official DOJ?

Hey guys,
I´m looking for some information regarding the Medical I will need for joining Qatar.
I have a German EASA Class 1 Medical without any restrictions after passing the Lantern-Test (colour vision test).
I´m now interested in applying with Qatar Airways. Does anyone of you know, if they just accept my German Medical or if I need to do one again there?
Furthermore, what´s the procedure there in such a case if I need to do a new Medical there?
Thanks!

Hi Guys,
Your input is highly appreciated here before I make final decision. In the pool for FO A320 here and back home soon I will upgrade to Command on the Brazilian jet. E195. At crossroads now, your kind advice please, Doha or stay put here?

Never Give Up Command
Never give up a command position, especially to move here. If you want your career to grow, assuming a command on any aircraft is the way to success.

I think, it depends on your age and expectations about life and career. I am almost same position with you and expect to upgrade one and half year in Boeing. I consider myself as young as for commercial aviation and that's why Qatar takes precedence for me. After the upgrade in wide-body in Qatar Airlines, probably I will be seen young for commander position in wide-body type.

As far as I heard, right now the A320 fleet is almost complete, the whole situation with the Neos will slow down the needs for A320 candidates.....so it looks like we will be swimming for a long time (hopefully less than a year in order to keep the assestment valid)

While I agree, command time is invaluable I was just asking if your current situation allows for progression, chance to upgrade fleets or flow through to a major carrier. Is it someplace you want to stay?
The 195 seems like a very nice aircraft, however with that being said if you are looking to move in future most of the job adds that are currently offered require either airbus or Boeing experience. Places like the USA really don't emphasize type rating but rather pic turbine, other countries it is very important. What is your 5 or even 10 year plan?

Supply and demand
You can allocated any fleet anytime and what you think you may get on arrival could change although does not happen very often. Some 320 guys arrive and get 330. Some 330 guys and get assigned 320. This is very rare, but could happen and is mentioned in your contract offer that fleet allocation change could happen due to demand and needs at the time etc etc. All depends on fleet needs at the time and you, what hours you have etc etc. If the fleet allocated is more important to you than the company offering you the job, maybe you're coming for the wrong reasons. And just to add, although it's known the 320 fleet works hard, don't be fooled into thinking other fleets are holiday camps. You work hard on most fleets and some have plus and minus points about them. One last point, some here on the 320 fleet are very happy and don't want fleet change, so don't believe everything posted here.

You know, same in here. I will upgrade in a month and I am in the talent pool for A320. If I upgrade, I have to sign a contract with my current company and I will loose my chance in QR. I don't know what to do? If you come up with a solution please share
