I remember the series, i think it was called "Skytruckers" or something to that effect? If it's the same series they showed a G/A into Tblisis due to a C-5 on the runway (even though they had landing clearance!) and a landing into an airfield at the end of a fjord in Greenland. Some good old charter flying in the the DC-8. Also remember the old F/E telling a story in the hotel about a request for 4 tonnnes of elephent straw not to included on the W/B by the shipper "because they eat it in flight"
It was a good series. Hopefully the name will assist you in getting a copy
Cheers

There was a 1 hour program on German news channel NTV last month about the VW Paris Dakar rally cars. There was a section on airfreighting the cars to DXB on a 747 for testing in the sandpit.
Wouldn't mind getting a copy of that if anyone can help. There's a few faces on there I need some bribery material on.....

To all those asking about the Cargolion documentary, I recorded this 1 hour prog called SkyTruckers from Discovery Channel onto VHS on April 10, 1999.
The best news is I FOUND THE TAPE!!!
Not quite sure though about how to send out copies, and erm, how many of you want one?
Leave it with me.
Memorable quote from the programme:
Bertram Pohl (Cargolion president)...
"Its easy to make a small fortune from air freight. You start with a big one!"

Still working on getting the transfer from VHS to DVD, turning out to be a pain. If anyone is able to do this easily and quickly can they PM me and I will send the tape on. Once done, I can make duplicate DVDs here.
The tape is in PAL format (UK TV standard) by the way.
Any takers?
Thinking about it, a DVD of the programme could make a reasonable Chrissy pressie don't you think?

Can't one connect a VCR to a DVD recorder by means of a scart cable, I used to video to video by that method.
If you might manage to get it onto a PC as a JPEG file or similar then I know of a download 'Video Maker' whereas you can burn it onto DVD's if you have a DVD writer.

Success!
Thanks due entirely to a tip from an interested party (you know who you are,) the programme 'Skytruckers' has now been transferred to DVD.
Given that I don't have a video capture card, nor one of those handy-dandy machines that records analogue video & TV straight to DVD, I had to contrive to get the signal electronically through a digital video camera down through firewire onto PC, thence to my DVD burner. I had tried shooting a TV screen using the camera in its conventional mode but this produced unacceptable patterning!
The whole exercise nonetheless gave me a chance to re watch this really great documentary.
There have been some requests from quite far afield, though I am confident that even NTSC (the American TV standard) can be catered for.
In keeping with the Mod's request, anyone wishing to receive a copy should only ask via PM to give me their postal address.
