The Chinese could hire a half dozen controllers from O'Hare, and they would have that place sorted in a week!

Is that the 'Forth of Clyde' or the 'Fourth runway' (based on the number 'four' - easy really)?

You could not find another airport in the world that its daily operation was so chaotic like Beijing and Pudong. If the people up there could only handle ten flights a day, why didn't they cut the schedules but just kept on approving new schedules. The chaotic operation was not only HK ATC to suffer but it also affected the operation of HKIA. The delayed flights on ground worsened the tight parking bays situation. People missed out the connected flights. Flight crew schedules were interrupted. If the delay happen everyday, it's the people problem, no excuse.

Why don't those muppets spend a fortnight at LHR or ORD, then just copy them?

They copy everything else north of the border. Nothing properly original up there.

Except I guess their ATC chaos. No one could have managed that f##k up first! Only them.

Enjoy.

You must also know that in China they do not have delays....they now have standby at the gate and threshold!

When you ask them how long is the delay they now say " No delay expected" 20 minutes later they will tell you to change to ground who will also hold you for 20-30 minutes before clearing you for push back. this goes on for 60-90 minutes....but there are no delays!

Military airspace activation around Shanghai was the reason given to the flag carriers local pilots to explain our 7 hour delay.

It's funny. Western militaries around the world fly all the time without substantial negative implications for the civil airline system. Even the US, whose air forces are much more sophisticated than China's seem to have no problem containing themselves to MOAs, warning and restricted areas which pose only minor deviations for commercial and GA traffic. Delays in the US are almost entirely driven by weather, not airways constriction due military activity.

The new runway next to 16/34 is only for use by the C919 Airbus copy....not for PVG civil traffic ... C 919 factory located south on the rapidly filling in coastline ...
