Does P1 under supervision still exixt in a JAR compliant UK regime?

If yes, do I still have to sign the guys logbook to validate it? If no, what does one say to the P2 who requests it?

No it isnt SPIC, at least I hope not - I didnt pay 25 k to log 'student' hours in the rhs of my jet.

SPIC is student Pilot In Command. Its a rubbish JAA development. What it mean in practice is that they got rid of a load of solo hours from course requirements and instead an instructor sits through a flight without saying or doing anything unless dissaster looms in which case he takes over and the flight becomes dual.

Of course what actually happens is the flight is indistinguishable from a dual trip and all you've done is reduce the actual amount of solo solo - I'm the only one here and need to make a decision - solo time that Cadets have. As little as 25 hours airborne solo time in some cases is all that required to hold a JAA CPL/IR Frzn ATPL.

Scared yet?

Thanks WWW, I'd been wondering what that SPIC was. How bizarre, and how typical of those JAR-heads.

But that still does not answer the original question, does P1 u/s still exist?

SPIC!! developed in conjuction with flying schools that have BA/Airline courses behind and being pushed to complete in less than favorable weather!! Commercial pressure works wonders!

As far as I have been led to believe, P1(U/S) does still exist as the method for which an F/O can log his 'handling' sector time. However, I have recently just moved to the LHS and believe that there is no longer a requirement to validate such a log book entry with the P1 signature.

WW. Thanks for the info re the continued existance of P1 u/s, but I'm curious, I had never appreciated it related to logging the P2s handling time.

Are you suggesting that P2 can log handling time as P1 (without u/s) and without a supporting signature any time its his handling sector??? Surely not! Please explain?
