See they are looking for DECs. Can anyone advise on lifestyle , job security, future fleet requirements and likely base options.

Thanks in advance

When did they start that again? Last time I looked, when you clicked on the details about the position, it said they weren't hiring.

The page doesn't work right now so I can't check it.

Short of Captains this summer. Vastly over-staffed with F/Os.

I hear recruitment for next summer, none for winter, since they are not renewing any contractors for the winter (mostly all Captains).

When I click on any of the following it's a dead link. It could be my computer, but it's always worked in the past.

Is there not a fairly straight forward solution to this problem......Or have Jet2 got something against internal upgrades?

Rumour has it that the company is not going to be using "contract" pilots for the next summer season.....

Is there not a fairly straight forward solution to this problem......Or have Jet2 got something against internal upgrades?

There is some encouraging news that this plan is already afoot....i've heard of a few SFO's that meet the company command criteria are already up for command assessments in the next couple of months.

There is one "disturbing" rumour though....that these commands might me on a temp summer season basis....surely not !!

I don't aim this at the majority of the contract pilots for sure, but thank god for that.

757.....would be yours....but I'm 737 NG / classic qualified I'm sure life on a Jet 2 737 would be better than non existent lifestyle I have at the moment.

Don't know where this 'vastly' overstaffed on F/Os comment comes from?
I've been working pretty hard and sometimes the only one on standby!

I've been told we will be hiring DEC for next March.

So, are all the SFOs being upgraded, or are they going to change the rules again?

Everyone eligible for upgrades are considered when the opportunity arises:ok:.

There does appear to be a significant difference in the amount of work being done between fleets and bases. MAN base on the 737 has been a comfortable year:D.

Thats what i meant Jonathan. The rules of eligibility seemed to change on a whim!

Any way, best of luck to all my former colleagues during these difficult times.

Well Capts at a certain North western (ish) base are working their backsides off at the moment. We could certainly do with a few more people with 4 stripes up our neck of the woods :)

As an FO I'm flying enough to keep the bank manager at bay and keep the log book filling up, but without feeling shattered at the end of the month (always a bonus) :)

I've found (since joining) that the company is pro RHS-LHS upgrades, as long as the candidates meet all the criteria and are ready.

Where to apply?

On the Jet2.com website it is stated that "We are looking for Captains and First Officers to join our team."

And the aforementioned PDF pages can be viewed, but on the bottom of the page under Current Aircrew vacancies is written "There are currently no vacancies in this department." - and no possibility to send an application or CV.

Does anyone have a tip on where/how to send an unsolicited application?
(I am 737-rated with 500 hours on NG, should it be of any concern :))

You'll have to keep looking at the website. It will open for recruitment for next summer. No recruitment over the winter, as the flying program is reduced, and if you want unpaid leave, you'll get it. They are not asking the current contractors to stay on over the winter - most of whom are captains.
