To all knowledgeable ppruners cruising this forum,
Am attempting to obtain an STI(H) qual. in order to teach instrument rating procedures in a synthetic FTD. This machine is loosely based on an AS350 Squirrel (single engine) in instrument layout with the equally loose flying characteristics of a B206 Jetranger.
Possess a CORE cert & instructor techniques cert from employment with FSI, F/Boro as well as an FAA AGII cert. (advanced ground instrument instructor).
However CAA are telling me that this is insufficient & I am required to undergo an IRI course.
The pre-requisites for an IRI(H) course specify a) hold a valid IR(H) on the relevant type & b) hold a valid TRI(H) on the relevant type. This seems to be a massive overkill as the FTD is a generic simulator!, not relevant to any particular type.
Anybody out there who can advise me on a way round this roadblock please PM or 'e' mail with advice please.
with fraternal greetings,
ambi:ok:
PS: Possess current JAR-FCL ATPL(H), UK CAA CPL(A)-very rusty & FAA ATP writtens for what it's worth.
