Sabena Strikes on its Last Day - It's All Over

Instead of closing tomorrow as had been expected, Sabena employees - in their infinite wisdom - decided that instead of leaving their passengers (and prospective investors) with positive memories about the company, they would cause chaos one more time and strike on the final day of operations.

Zaventem Airport is apparently in uproar at the moment.

Not content with destroying their own company, they have in effect just scared off any investors from the Sabena Mark II.

We advise all passengers holding Sabena tickets, not to come to the airport. Passengers of other airlines are requested to check in as usual.
Flights handled by AviaPartner are not hampered. As far as flights of airlines handled by Sabena are concerned, the situation might be different. Please check our website or teletext.
We advise all passengers to come to the airport by train.

spoke to a SN crew in NY day before, they are ferrying flight back!!! must be all over as no bookings being able to be made, no investor will ever touch it now if half a brain. VEX should do nicely, only belgium airline left (apart from DHL whose cabin is the same as SN's any way with similiar service!!)
VEX would also get grandfather rights to slots as already operate on them and the existing company who 'owns' them is no longer around. they should do well, low cost base in competition with 'national' size airlines

Apparently they sent 150 cop reinforcements, 10000 direct jobs are going to be lost.
this is the largest bankruptcy in belgian history.
Branson made also an offer of 20 millions euros for sabena.
