When the A380 touched down at LHR today, does anyone know why the pilot only used thrust reverse on the inboard engines only ?

Do the outboard engines not have thrust reverse and if they do what operational reason would there be not to use them ?

Cheers........TJ

You answered your own question.
No reversers fitted to the outboard engines on the 380

Airbus decided against outboard reversers (and as part of the weight saving programme, nearly decided against all reversers, but airlines balked at this omission) to prevent FOD - (Foreign Object Damage) as the outboard mills could be hanging above unimproved surfaces during landing on a not-so-A380-wide runway.

To anyone attending, what was the band playing when she landed ? :}
