View Full Version : Bomb onboard a TAP Airbus at Amsterdam

Was in Amsterdam this afternoon. An Air Portugal TAP Airbus stood on stand around the C33 area, requested to urgently speak to the airport authority. The ground controller queried as to why, when the pilot said;

“I have just been handed a note which was found on the floor of the cabin by one of our cabin crew – it says there is a bomb onboard the aircraft and that it will explode in 5 hours – I am evacuating my passengers!”

The ground controller transferred the pilot to a discreet frequency and the conversation continued. The Amsterdam airfield operations descended on the plane from all directions in the space of about a minute followed shortly after by armoured vehicles etc.

The pilot came back after about 5 minutes saying that he was unable to evacuate the ground staff i.e. catering staff and that he had asked them to leave three times but they didn’t quite understand what all the hassle was about.

We took off shortly there after so no further details, maybe someone else might have more.

If it’s already been on the news and everyone knows about it, my apologies.

The area around from C9 and upwards was closed for about an hour. I could not board my plane at C9 during this time. All operations in this area were stopped during this time: No loading no boarding no catering etc.

Since we were already 45 minutes late I did not take the time to find out what the outcome was.
