Apologies if this has been done to death, I've tried various searches, but cannot find the exact information I need.
I know that you can instruct on a class 2 - and NOT get paid. However with the above scenario in mind, can you also do it with just a PPL and an FI course? Or, do you definately HAVE to have the CPL written exams?
If you do have to complete the CPL writtens, have they got to be done before undertaking the FI course, or can you do the FI course first?
Thank you for any replies

As ever, LASORS is quite clear about the requirement to do CPL groundschool before your FI course if adding to a PPL, extract below:
Pre-requisite flight and theoretical
requirements
Before commencing a Flight Instructors Course (FIC)
an applicant must satisfy the course pre-entry
requirements as per JAR-FCL 1.335: -
The course is intended to train the applicant to give
instruction on single engine aeroplanes up to PPL(A)
standard. This must include the particular requirements
specified below and each of these requirements must
be met in full.
a) Hold either a valid UK CAA or JAR-FCL aeroplane
pilots licence, which includes a valid Single Engine
Piston (Land) Class or single pilot, Single Engine
Type Rating.
b) Meet the knowledge requirements for the grant of
a JAR-FCL Commercial Pilot Licence
(Aeroplanes) as per AMC FCL 1.470(b).

And people wonder why their are few career instructors. To G-STRING no doubt you would bring alot to any flight school enviroment, but please consider that what can be a past time to some is the career and livelihood of others.
The above is a very edited version of the original i did an hour ago!!!
