G'day folks,

Sorry if this has been covered before but im fairly new to this whole pprune thing !

Im an 1800hr (mostly single eng.) instructor at a busy Australian flying school..... I have the right to work the UK and was wondering what the job scene for someone of my experience like..... in both the instructing and twin/airline flying fields...

Is it worth me cobverting the Australian ATPL ??

Any advice would be greatly appriecated !!

Thanks

You now have to do a complete course for the UK/JAR IR, regardless of what you have from overseas. So having to do some 50hrs for that alone will probably put you off. As for your hours, they know you would move on soon from instructing to the airlines so it may well be hard to find something.

With the experience u have, puts u in the Regional Airline arena
1000 hrs upwards is the usuall figure. But it rather depends on your definition of WORTH.It depends on whether u wish to come and try your luck here.U might do the conversion and walk right into a job,on the other hand u might not.The door is open, its up to you to decide.Instructing,
yes there are jobs about, charter as well, and regional jobs. There are a lot of pilots competing for there first job here, and i suppose a lot depends on experience.U seem to have what they are looking for in the hrs
dept, but as far as ;IS IT WORTH IT;well only
u can decide if u want to come here, work your nuts off doing the entire ATPL exams,a full 50hr IR course followed by test,a **** load of money ,time, heartache, no guarantee
of a job but u would be in with a shout. The
chioce is yours and good luck.

Sorry, didn't mean to be negative.
Yes, up to you, I agree with the post above.
You should be able to get something here, but in all honesty, with those hours, weighing up the *effort* to convert here, your chances are better in Auz. or try NZ, your licence is valid there too.
Give the UKCAA a call, get them to post you the stuff so you can see what you have to do to convert.
