you can renew your FAA CFI by mail. Jeppesen offers a 16 hour video course with home exams which you mail back to them with notarized copies of ID cards etc and they send you your ticket back by post. No need for a flight test except for a current BFR. Easy.

Here ya go: Gleim have an on-line refresher course. Assume your CFI hasn't yet expired -just needs refreshing... http://www.gleim.com/Aviation/firc/
Good luck!

I just Renewed mime using Gleim on line. I have aways used AOPA in the past. Its is a good way to do it. Better that I thought it would be. Plus you can now Renew with in 90 days of expiration and keep your current expiration date. For a fee they will do the paper work for you as well. You can do the whole thing in a day or two. Be preparded to print out a lot of good data. Make sure you have a printer cartridge or two and plenty of paper.
