Hello,
Does any one have a rulr of thumb with reference to an all engine out glide approach, ie track miles to lose height? when to configure the aircraft etc?

Don't know about the DC-10, but seem to remember the TriStar recommended procedure would be flap 4 at 6000 agl and plan to cross five miles on final at 3000 agl with gear down and flap 10 at approximately 180 knots. This worked out in the sim most times.
Hope this helps.

In the B747 you need to maintain a minimum of 160 kts to keep your hydraulics working. There is no manual reversion on the Classic. IŽll ask my Dad about the 10. He was a Captain on it for more than 10 years.
