VFR flight plan for class C ATS route
Ok tearing my hair out.
The ANO states that for a VFR flight in class C airspace or ATS route you must file a flight plan. Further down it then states that for a VFR Flight on a class C ATS route you must not cause a flight plan to be communicated to ATC.
So which is it?

Section 2 page 16, point 29.
Section 2 page 12, point 19.
As far as I can see the latter states comply with rules 35,36 and 37, of which 35 is a flight plan. The former states in rule 29(4) that you shouldn't file a flightplan?
Section 2 page 12, point 19.

General: A Flight Plan can be submitted for any flight whatsoever, so I
would be surprised if the ANO says anywhere that:
"a Flight Plan should not be submitted"
States a VFR Flight Plan must be submitted but cannot
for flights above FL195
Why not? Because
Says that above FL195 any flight (even in VMC) must be flown
according to IFR (so point 29 does not apply) - Therefore, I assume,
an IFR Flight Plan will be required.
Basically a Flight Plan is mandatory for flight in Class C, the only question
being whether a VFR FP or an IFR FP is filed; and that a pilot must
not submit a VFR FP for where it is not permitted.

The commander of an aircraft shall not cause a flight plan to be communicated to the appropriate air traffic unit for a VFR flight in class C airspace above fl195 or along a Class C ATS route at any flight level unless authorised to do so by the CAA.

So what abut the advisory routes, I heard they were changing to Class C to align with EASA regs?
I have only flown IFR in class C so it's a mute point from that perspective.
