EASA Part 66 Logbook filling

hello

Having completed my basic course at a 147 org, im currently working at a 145 MRO. I've been filling the cap 741 logbook for almost 3 years now and sooner going to submit it. but before that I'd like to ask help from you to clarify some doubts I have. your cooperation is much appreciated.

and I understand you guys are not CAA assessors to nail these questions but I'd very happy to hear from anyone having an idea, specially from someone who recently submitted the logbook.

1. There are some chapters like 51, 70, 76 under which you can't find a lot of work done. They are hardly touched and 51 is mostly workshop repairs. will that be an issue if I have very limited number of (almost nil) entries from those chapters ?

2. Pure B2 chapters like 22, 31, 33 ... I know I'm supposed to have entries from B2 chapters as well but will it be alright if I have only basic few entries because in fact they are not in my scope when working.

3. Is the CAA mostly looking for AMM based references ( GVI, DI, Removal/Installation) or are they equally expecting TSM and SRM entries ?

4. After all I could managed to fill around 350 entries with at least 200 of them are Replacements of components. The rest are DI, GVI and servicing etc. Will that be enough to satisfy them ?

Thanks in advance

I think a page for a light chapter will cover you.

It won't hurt showing b2 tasks. Shows your versatility.

The CAA will also be looking for you to show experience in fault finding/trouble shooting and testing not just component replacement and inspections. Basically show experience within the scope of a LAE.

If you're B1 they will also be looking for electrical experience in fault isolation and repair ie crimping, splice, solider etc. I believe they are quite particular about that. I know a few folk who have had there application knocked back for not having enough of this.

Hope this helps.

No-one expects you to fill in all the chapters.
Your training was likely to have been biased to either mech or Avionic trades and your experiences should be recorded accordingly.
But you should be able to clearly demonstrate how much work you have done in those three years against the majority of chapters for your given trade.
For a basic AML the CAA willl be looking for a wide range of work within each appropriate chapter. So repeating the same thing many times may fill a page but not show a variety of experience.
However you can be smart about how you log the jobs you have done. You may be able to cross feed some jobs that involve different system tests, such as: an Air Conditioning job may lead to electrical sensor connections and engine runs - all from the same task. You still have to do the Air Con job, but where else did you go during that job?
Think about what you did and log it properly.
Additional stuff:
As a trainee (of however many years) you may be very lucky to do a lot of line work/training - especially if your tied to a fixed base. The CAA generally know what type of work you're doing and what type of work you can get from the organisation that is sponsoring you. Be patient, keep logging what you do. If you are short of anything your QM or training supervisor should sort you out. Show them your book and ask for advice on what you need.
Best of luck mate.

thanks a lot for your ideas mate

well I was informed before that I have to cover at least few B2 tasks in their chapters even though I'm a B1. so i have some entries such as replacing avionics LRU's etc. hope they will be happy to see them although very few entries are there.

and my company QM has to certify the logbook before i send it to the UK CAA and there is an implemented rule in my org that I have to reach minimum of 450 entries to be eligible for that. so im working for that target.

and yes i understand repeating task will be a waste as it is also mentioned in the logbook itself to avoid repetition. but im working on 4 different engine types so i have written some tasks few times in different engines.

I was actuaally worried that i cannot obtain many entries from chapters like 51 55 70 76 20 but as you said I also belivee there is no such a requirement to fill all the chapters in full.

cheers mate

Thanks a lot local poet, it really helps.

I didn't care much about function checks and systems test but now I should consider more about them too.

Cheers

Stating the obvious, your company should have a section 3.16 in the MOE for recommendations for license applications, seen the odd few trip over on this when it wasn't defined.
