I have an A6 which does the same since I bought it second hand.

However, it only shows the error at startup, and then works perfectly fine - I've had it for over a year like that. The chap who sold it to me said he thought he had connected it to the wrong voltage, which caused the error display, which didn't clear, but it then worked fine for the rest of the time he had it as well.

On the whole, it's a mild irritant, but I think just live with it if you have no other fault.

Do not post twice on the same subject

Same thread on the same topic!

It only wastes the time of friendly people trying to help you.

G- Could your "fault" be simply that when switched off, the surface-charge voltage on the battery rises . at the moment of switching on, this registers as "over" but the surplus rapidly drops away to the standard "loaded" voltage, hence the warning goes out. Connecting a multimeter across the battery would confirm or debunk this theory.

It is a rule on most internet bulletin boards, to be fair, that you only post a question once.

That said, Jet Blast is basically the local loony bin anyhow, so I really wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks.
Ok the OVER V goes out but the battery light blinks empty although the units receives for hours. I will see how it goes and maybe send it to Icom. It might be cheaper buying a new one though...lol

Great service from Bose last week. Sent headset in on their pre paid service deal and got them back fixed AND a no payment required note......how cool is that.

Could be -but the battery is internal on this model, making checking difficult. As it's not affecting function, I've not bothered much with it.

The battery symbol blinking is not that it is discharged, rather that it is dead and need replacing.
Are you powering it externally? If yes don't forget that it is 11volts max otherwise it will show OverV.

Thumbs up OVER V

The ICOM circuit monitors the voltage from the small power supply jack on the side. If this goes over 11 volts it sets up the message OVER V. This message will then always crop up briefly during turn-on unless it is reset by ICOM Service Dept. Usually the transceiver carries on working fine even though OVER V has been triggered. The recommended external supply should be between 9 and 11 volts.
