light a/c maintenance work

Hi,
Do you know if there is much work in light a/c maintenance? Is it possible to build a career around it do you think?
What kind of pay could someone expect ? Id imagine a big drop for some reason.
Does it work the same way as heavy maintenance, i.e. B1/B2 etc.
Im training in avionics/electrics at the moment and will be a qualified technician in about 10 months but Id love to look into that area.
I dont know where to start though.

Avionics engineers are few and far between and most tend to operate as a one man band or small company servicing the requirements of the light aircraft industry in their area.......... the money is nowhere near what is paid for the big stuff though as far as I know
