Post Helen Clarke

Have just heard that Helen Clarke is stuck on a Air New Zealand aircraft whilst unionist refuse to allow the aircraft to be serviced. Extend the ban to all Air New Zealand aircraft in Australia, until the New Zealand Government and airline guarantee all employee entitlements. Surely, this must be a case of ensureing that all employees entitlements are paid into a managing trust to ensure that if the company goes broke, employees rightly owed entitlements cant be lost to save the parent company?

And to all those at Ansett, Kendell, Flightwest, Hazelton, Aeropelician and Skywest, our hopes for the best outcome as soon as possible are with you all, especially those we know.

I would be happy to handcuff myself to the undercarriage of an Air New Zealand aircraft. Provided the crew DOES a pre-flight.

All I have to do is get the handcuffs off Mrs TBT

Keep the bucked tooth wench, we dont want her!

To add insult to injury, NZ press report that the board of Air NZ received bonus's for their management of the crisis.

No accounting for the fat cats.

Tossers!

Commiserations to all in Oz. Sadly you will join us (the RNZAF) on the Labour parties funeral pyre.

I agree, keep the woman.

But what is holding all ANZ aircraft on the ground going to prove??

Are you trying to send ANZ down the gurgler as well???

Wouldn't that be a triumph for stupidity!!

No, not stupidity, but venting anger at scourging behaviour from Air New Zealand's inability to understand they had bitten off more than they can chew, and their continued inability to understand the extent of the problem. There are many stories going around indicating the dumping of debt from ANZ to AN during the intergration process. I will watch the investigation ASIC conducts with interest. A company that looses ~$M150 with $B3 revenues is certainly in need of radical surgery, not closing. ANZ has had total control of AN since Feb 2000. Competent management in this time has been limited, as it has been for some years. ANZ will feel some pain. I'm not going to the ralleys, however to block a ANZ aircraft. I'm in. I don't however condone the closing of airports.

These actions remind me of when i was in primary school, and we would prevent the teacher from getting into the class room because we didn't like her.

Grow up.

Preventing Mrs Clarke isn't going to save the airline that was well on its way down the drain when AirNZ bought it.

Be a part of the solution, not the problem.

How smart are these kiwis? To land in SYD enroute to NZ with their PM on board knowing full well the AN situation had just been announced. What did they expect, a guard of honour from the airport fire units?

I would have thought a quick word on company frequency would have told them to divert to AKL PDQ.

The idea of black banning NZ flights in Oz would only cause reciprocal action for QF.
No winners there.

Let's hope ASIC has the ability to get to the truth in who's cooked the books and then do something about it.

Please tell me. As for senior NZ execs getting performance bonuses, it could only be a beat up?

Thylacine, The Kiwi PM came in from the west, so she can't have come in on Air NZ. Shame you couldn't have kept her. Mind you, who would want her.

But you're right no sense in tit for tat. Ansett was in deep p..h before the silly Kiwi's paid good money for it. The demise of Ansett has unfortunately occurred but with has gone over a billion kiwi bucks. So it hasn't all been one way.

Cool

Oh the irony of it all!!

The airline that her "national airline" screwed, blockades her departure and who should she call to come and rescue her?? The RNZAF who she has practically decimated!!

Hope that episode gave her plenty of food for thought!

Red face

If she went home in an Orion then that was too good, Should've put her in the back of a Herc without hearing protection.
As a kiwi overseas I just thank God that I am not home. Labour have ***** GA and the Airforce in about a year(?)and done little to assist an failing economy.
Its getting to the embarressing stage.
If you guys back home want some free advice then this is it. Vote with your feet and join us causing the Brain Drain.

As we say...NZ...GREAT place to live but a sad place to work.

Exclamation

as a kiwi, i am shocked that a former
great company like air nz could let that
happen to ansett, although i am starting
to get sick and tired of all the kiwi bashing
going on, the average kiwi has had nothing
to do with this and yet we appear to be
targets of grossly untrue statements by
many aussie media and the aussie public,
people seam to forget that air nz is owned
25%(now 35)by singapore airlines,with another
20% going to brieleys (based in singapore)
with the rest going to investors, now i don't
hear the aussies bitching at singapore airlines now do we, also the fact that the
airline has an aussie as a ceo and as garry
has said there are many former qantas employess working there, who followed him over, including accountants (hmm 1+2=10)
hearing on the news the other night that
kiwi ansett workers we being abused by
the aussie ansett workers really shocked me,
i mean what the hell could they have done about it.
so just lay off the average kiwi.
