conversion to canadian licence
Hi everyone,
I am thinking moving over to Canada as there seems to be a number of FO opportunities on b190 aircrafts.
I already have a b190 rating and a south African multi engine instrument rating with just over 1300 hours, I want to know how to proceed if I wish to convert my licence to a Canadian one.
Your constructive feedback welcome.
Happy landings.

You wont find it difficult or expensive.
The hardest exam will be the Instrument Written exam,
just do one of the on-line versions and use on-line reference materials
and you will nail that in few days of study.
Getting a ride done might well be possible doing a
PPC ride with an employer at least that's how I did my
IFR when I came to Canada and the regs have barely changed.

Of course that does not stop you from ranting and wenting your opinions about other countries and their pilots and aviation.
I think that the information was correct.
Regarding the working permit, first we do not know the OP situation, and maybe you did not notice the "might well be possible", might.

Never said I'm an expert.
But yes, might come as a surprise to you but I, like lots of others, have more than one interest.
Also glad you are not too busy and have time to investigate posting histories.
I did not comment on Canada's immigration.
But I said that the conversion procedure posted by ramjet555 seemed correct.
You say no, where was he wrong?
Restraint, no thanks

It does not mean it is always possible or at all
If not, then just get the conversion and then do the PPC with the employer, easy.
Not a all.
You told me I was wrong about you, that means I did not do any investigation.
But yes, my job leaves me a lot of free time
P.S. Glad I have my licence already, even if unused

Glad you are here to help, together we might reach 100
The OP question was how to get a Canadian conversion.
For this he does not need to be employed or have the working papers.
He needs a Canadian medical, proof of experience, take written tests, take a flight test.
Nowhere is a employment required.
Was not when I got my licence when you were 10 and still isn't
Then to get a job is a totally different issue, we do not know if he has the right to work or has a way to get it(He has double passport, will marry a Canadian, etc).

He said "might well be possible", what that means in your English.
In general it does not mean it is like that for sure but it maybe it it possible.
Then you started a personal attack on him(and it seems that in general you are unable sustain a discussion without attacking others)
I did not change to "flight test" as I never said a PPC was the way to go.
Yes, the OP never mentioned work authority in Canada, that does not mean he does not have it or that he won't be able to obtain it.
Hey, even Canadians are able to obtain it in Europe
Bored?
Ah, yes
Here at your service

Flydive 1,
Great Answers, keep it up.
And for the record, the Rules here in Canada have not changed a great deal.
I did an Initial IFR, a PPC BEFORE I was given a job, that got me my first job banging around in a PA31.
Lots of renewals and PPC's since then.
No, I'm not currently employed but have just renewed my Canadian Instructor Rating but will probably only do it part time
due to other commitments that I won't post here.
I could however get one of numerous jobs on offer flying a King Air... which for me is a lot easier than getting even
a part-time job instructing which is what I would prefer as I like instructing...
I may also take a job south of the boarder doing multi-Ifr training if a few positive things happen here.
I stand by my advice regarding Canada and I'm aware of many other pilots, Canadian who have had
similar experiences.
One I was talking to day, did several overseas tours in the military, medals, and would give the same advice.
I've lost count of the number of pilots who have lost their careers due to the same cause that they did
nothing to deserve such treatment.
I'm more than happy to provide guidance to any foreigner coming to Canada on how to navigate the system.
It's a great place to fly and its lots of good experience that may not be similarly available overseas.
Wow, its bed time..

Добро пожаловать, Canada is full of Russians and Ukrainians, I can't go for a walk without hearing Russian being
spoken in the park or the supermarket.
You will find more Russians in Aviation but a few Ukrainians.
If you come to Canada, I'm sure you will make lots of contacts
and you will need to establish yourself either in an area where
you don't need qualifications or in an area where
you will have to go to the trouble of obtaining Canadian
qualifications.
You might end up working in the Ultra light area
or building your own and having a job that is
very different from Aviation.
Last Ukrainian I met was an expert at building
banyas and log homes.
