Our Club operates a Cessna 172 for PPL training.Someone has said that the Aircraft should be reweighed every 5 years re weight and balance. Is this true?

My 172 hasn't been reweighed since the 90's, but the regulations here in the US are probably different.

Never heard of such. Is the club operating commercial or as ATO and the requirement was put in the individual handbook?

Sounds more like someone's idea of a sensible interval than a rule. I've had a brief look at CS-23 but there's nothing in the General section about periodic weighing.

It used to be every 4 years but, without looking it up, I think now under the LAMP it is when the owner thinks it is necessary such as when there is a new piece of equipment added.
