Captain Val Moore
Would anyone know of a photo that shows Captain Val Moore, or know of a place where I could find a photo of him? The information I have about the gentleman is as follows:
Full name is Valentine Stuart Moore, DSO, DFC, DFM (NZ 404924). He flew with 57 Squadron, 83 Squadron and with 692 Squadron on Mosquitos. He joined BOAC towards the end of the War and flew Haltons, Yorks, Hermes, Argonauts, Comet IVs and VC10s. He then moved to Nigeria Airways to fly its single VC10 and was operating 5N-ABD on its final, fateful flight in November 1969. He was born in New Zealand, most likely in 1913 as he was 56 at the time of the VC10's crash.

I seem to recall that there is a photo of him in a group shot in Pathfinder by Don Bennett.

A bit of drift, but - when 5X-UVA initiated EAA's VC10 services, the first flight was a promotional trip billed as "10 VC's on a VC10", carrying 10 VC holders, one of whom had been gassed in WW1 and probably shouldn't have been flying anyway. Apparently a meeting with Idi Amin was involved....

I have a paperback copy of this book. There are only a few photos but none with Moore.
However he is listed in the Appendix as:

Any chance of a scan or photo? It's the first I've heard of this and I would love to know more about it. I wonder if any of the 10 VCs that were on that flight were also linked to a named RAF VC10.

However, a Flt Lt V S Moore is listed in an annex as CO of 1409 (Met) flight from 28 November 1943 - a brief appointment as another chap took over on 13 January 1944. 1409 flew Mosquitoes.
And if the names, above, of the VC holders are correct, none were named on the 10 Sqn aircraft. The names chosen in 1968 were from a list of VCs who had died in action.
