Above is my enigmatic contraption (well almost a silhouette).
Concerning the Makhonine I should insist on my interpretation. The 123 has an elongated glasshouse cockpit in addition, hanging at the root of each wing, a voluminous container where apparently the landing gear main legs retracted.
Cheers

The outline of this floater is unmistakable: it is the Richard-Penhoët 2 of 1926 powered by five Jupiter engines (420HP each)

Thanks Noyade! I couldn't believe it having been away from here for so long, that the current challenge was, not only something I recognised, but also to me, one of the most beautiful aircraft ever built. As Roger Bacon used to say, 'Ah, De Havilland!!!'
Anyway, here is the next one (I'll see if I can reduce the picture size before the morning):

I am disappointed that google image search is interfering with the enjoyment of these identification challenges.
Open house.
